The Supreme Court has confirmed the initiation of limited guardianship for Shin Kyuk-Ho, the 95-year-old honorary chairman of Lotte Group. As a result, the authority to make decisions regarding his property rights will be entrusted to the nonprofit foundation “Sun.”

The First Division of the Supreme Court recently dismissed an appeal against the decision to appoint a limited guardian for Chairman Shin. With this ruling, the Seoul Family Court’s designation of the foundation “Sun” as his guardian in August of last year has been finalized.

Within two months, the foundation must submit a report listing Chairman Shin’s assets to the court. Under the authority granted by the court, the foundation will manage his property and oversee decisions related to medical treatment, residence, and living arrangements. “Sun” is a nonprofit organization established by One Law Partners, LLC to contribute to the public good.
